Daniel Joseph Martinez (b. 1957, Los Angeles, California) tackles questions of race, identity and the body in his multi-disciplinary work. He is known for his institutional critique method where he addresses systems and standards in the Art World and unapologetically probes uncomfortable issues of personal and collective identity. With both strategy and humor in mind,Martinez deploys a full range of available media in his practice including text, image, sculpture, video and performance to construct his unique brand of aesthetic inquiry. The permanent collection boasts multiple works by Martinez including two permanent installations outside Studio at Ruby City.
